Getting started
Quickstart.
Take one payment from a link to a verified, webhooked result. You'll need a browser with MetaMask and a wallet address you control.
1. Create an account and a merchant
Sign up at https://web-production-3b1f8.up.railway.app/signup. On the Overview page, create a merchant. Its settlement currency defaults to USD, which is what your links and analytics are denominated in.
2. Connect your payout wallet
In the merchant view, choose Connect Wallet. MetaMask asks you to pick an account and sign a short message. The signature proves you control the wallet and costs no gas. This is the address every payment will be sent to, so double-check it. To use a different account later, choose Change wallet.
3. Create a payment link
Open the Payment Links tab and create a link: a title, a currency such as USD, and either a fixed amount or "customer chooses". You get a checkout URL:
4. Pay it
Open the link, pick ETH, USDC or USDT, tick the beta acknowledgement, and approve the transaction in MetaMask. The page shows confirmation progress. On mainnet a payment finalises after 12 confirmations, which takes a few minutes.
5. Verify it from your server
Create an API key on the merchant's API Keys tab. It's shown once, so store it somewhere safe. Then read the payment by its ID (you'll find IDs in the dashboard's Transactions tab, and in webhooks):
A finished payment comes back with "status": "success" and the on-chain hash under crypto.txHash, which you can look up on any block explorer.
Prefer to be told instead of asking?
Register an HTTPS URL on the Webhooks tab and Axle will call it when a payment succeeds or fails. Set up signature verification first. It takes a few lines and is what makes the webhook trustworthy: see Verifying signatures.
6. Optional: embed checkout on your own site
Instead of sending customers to the hosted page, open checkout as a modal over your own page with a single script. See Embedding checkout.
